I have always dreamt of interoperability. I worked on projects that involved development on Win NT, but the actual production deployment was on AIX. Also, in an ideal world, all systems should be taking to each other and customer should have choice to mix and match. Linux with Windows, Oracle with SQL server, Exchange with Thunderbird, Firefox with IE… but that rarely happens.
